UPDATE: Iran’s parliament has approved a motion to close the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route, which about 20% of the world’s oil supply passes daily, in response to recent US airstrikes on its nuclear facilities.
This narrow waterway connects the Persian Gulf to the Indian Ocean, and any disruption here would send oil prices skyrocketing, triggering global inflation and economic shockwaves.
