Kenya’s AUC candidate Raila Odinga promises that he will demand that Africa gets 2 permanent seats with veto powers at the UN Security Council.
Raila Odinga on silencing the guns in the continent says Africa need to address key contributing factors like poverty, external influence, and religion, and enhance dialogue.
Mr. Odinga on Trade says Africa must intensify intra-African trade by addressing non-tariff barriers, modalities of payment, and infrastructure. He adds that energy prices must also be lowered and the continent increases adoption of green energy.
Raila displays his vast knowledge of the infrastructural sector in Africa as he explains the challenges facing the content and possible solutions including easing visa restrictions for free movement of investors in the continent.
The former PM says if elected AUC chair, he’ll ensure AU gets funding from the continent’s resources, says all African countries must remit their 0.2 pc AU import levy.
He promises to focus on women and youth empowerment, to leverage on AI and technology to boost trade in the continent if elected AUC chairman.
In his closing remarks, Raila Odinga says he is ready to serve the continent and will draw on his vast experience at local and continental level to champion Africa’s growth.
