Two unidentified assailants ambushed and attacked a vehicle belonging to Homabay County Deputy Governor Hon. Joseph Oyugi Magwanga while it was en route to his Oyugis residence moments ago. Believing the Deputy Governor was onboard, the attackers intercepted the vehicle, blocking its path before firing the first shot.

Fortunately, Hon. Magwanga was not in the vehicle at the time of the attack. His security detail, who were present in the vehicle, quickly returned fire, effectively repelling the attackers. Sensing danger, the assailants fled into the nearby woods and disappeared.

Security agencies have launched an investigation into the incident and are pursuing the suspects. More updates to follow.
