A suspected thief masquerading as a boda boda rider was lynched by an angry mob

A suspected thief masquerading as a boda boda rider was lynched by an angry mob on Wednesday after attempting to snatch a phone from a pedestrian along Riverside Drive, Nairobi.

The suspect, who was reportedly among a group that was trailing President William Ruto’s convoy from Kawangware, was cornered by civilians and set ablaze before police could intervene.

This comes amid rising reports of goons loitering near businesses and public transport vehicles during the president’s ongoing tour of Nairobi County.

Eyewitnesses say the boda boda rider was wearing a reflector jacket branded with the name of Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi at the time of the incident.
