Tanzanians are planning a large-scale protest on December 9th, coinciding with the country’s Independence Day, to demand the removal of President Samia Suluhu in response to mass killings, arrests, and widespread repression following the disputed October 29, 2025 elections.
The planned demonstrations reflect growing discontent with the regime’s authoritarian practices, electoral fraud, and brutal crackdown on dissent, with pressure mounting on celebrities and public figures to join the movement as silence is increasingly viewed as complicity in the government’s actions.
