Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda has announced plans to introduce a bill in Parliament seeking to regulate influencers and online content creators.
The proposed legislation will require individuals discussing professional or specialized topics on digital platforms to possess relevant academic qualifications(Degree).
The MP expresses concern over the growing trend of unqualified individuals positioning themselves as experts on social media, warning that misinformation could have serious consequences for the public.
Jhanda says his proposal aims to bring accountability and professional standards to online discourse, ensuring that digital platforms are used responsibly and credibly across Kenya.
