Tears and anguish filled the air in Mugondoi village, Kesses, as Frenda Chelangat, the young mother who nearly lost her life in Saudi Arabia, finally returned home.
Her frail body bears the marks of months of torture, starvation, and unimaginable suffering. For weeks, she was locked in a tiny room, beaten and denied food; at one point, she says, she thought she would die alone in a foreign land, her family never knowing what happened to her.
Frenda had left home full of hope, chasing the promise of a better life for her children. But what awaited her abroad was a living nightmare. She endured endless abuse, unpaid labour and days of pain that broke her spirit but never her faith.
Today, she has finally made it back to the home she once dreamed of improving, empty-handed, but alive.
The people of Mugondoi wept as they received her, grateful that she returned breathing, even if shattered.
