The Zambia Police Service wishes to categorically refute false claims circulating on social media suggesting that heavily armed police officers have sealed and secured the venue for the launch of the Tonse Alliance. These reports are unsubstantiated, misleading, and intended to cause unwarranted public alarm.
The Zambia Police Service operates within the framework of transparency and accountability. We maintain that all official operations conducted by the police are documented and communicated through verified channels. Any information circulating outside these official communications should be treated with caution.
We wish to further address the individuals behind the propagation of these falsehoods, including Mr. Emmanuel Mwamba, Mr Sean Tembo and the administrator of the Patriotic Facebook page. These individuals are advised to desist from disseminating unverified and potentially inflammatory information. Should their actions border on criminality by undermining public order or inciting unrest, the Zambia Police Service will not hesitate to act in accordance with the law. The long arm of the law will address any behavior that compromises public safety or seeks to erode the trust between law enforcement and the citizens of Zambia.
We urge all members of the public to verify any information regarding police operations directly with the public relations office or through the Zambia Police Service’s official communication platforms.
Misinformation can have serious consequences, and the Zambia Police Service remains committed to preserving peace, security, and accurate public information.
