The Standard claims Gachagua invested around 2 billion in UDA campaigns and was in a hurry to recover his money after UDA formed the government in 2022.
Citing another source, the paper alleges that Gachagua claimed that before 2018, he had been making around 1.2 billion per year.
But this changed after 2018, when the government blocked his sources of funds because of his association with William Ruto who was then serving as DP.
The paper alleges that recently, Gachagua added all the money he would have made since 2018 (1.2b per year), rounded it off to the nearest ten and demanded a refund.
