Charles Ogweno the unknown owner of the first famous Omega one Discotheque in Kenya is from Wawidhi in Nyando. The Disco was only matchable to the famous Benga live bands by then like the Less Wanyika, the Maroon Commandos and Supper Mazembe; “The Kasongo tunes”.

It was named Omega One because it was to be the first and the last mobile of its kind

The legend is a pilot by profession and was a pilot for the Kenya airforce UpTo 1982 where he was jailed for 8 months after the failed attempt coup.

He was later released and left his work then decided to relieve his stress by getting into the entertainment industry. He started the Dj life in 1983 and made the whole nation happy after owning the famous Omega One Sounds.

We cannot forget Omega One Sounds veteran and legendary DJs like Dj Oti Shabale and others.

He also own a recording studio popularly known as ” Sound check records” which produced 2007 songs of Onyi papa Jey.

Todate, the legend still believes that… “music is food of the soul and we all love it”.
