Update: Uganda Accident Claims Life Of Zambian Catholic Sister

A NEWLY professed Zambian Catholic sister has died in a road traffic accident in Uganda, four months after fulfilling her childhood dream of joining the Sisterhood.

23 year old Sr Monica Nayame of the Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary was involved in a road traffic accident after the taxi she was traveling in collided with a truck while en route from Gulu, Northern Uganda.

She was then rushed to the hospital where she was unconscious for some time and later lost her breath.

Sr. Monica, who hailed from Kasama Archdiocese, took her vows earlier this year and was sent to serve in Uganda shortly after her profession.

Her dedication to the Sisterhood had been a lifelong aspiration which she dreamed of as a child and was realised only months before her untimely death.

Known for her devotion to the Church and her love for poetry, Sr. Monica was committed to serving others.

Having trained as a religious sister in Uganda, her life was marked by her mission to spiritually uplift those around her in that country.

It is reported that the young sister was on a tour of duty when the accident happened as she traversed the pearl of Africa.
