Former AFC Leopards coach Jaan Koops is appealing to the club to settle a KES 9 million debt, which he claims arises from two contracts signed during his tenure. Koops, who is battling a severe heart condition, says part of the money would help him purchase a pacemaker.

The 83-year-old Dutchman, now residing in Busia County, has unsuccessfully tried to contact AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda for months.

“I urge AFC Leopards to acknowledge the urgency of my situation and respond instead of remaining silent,” Koops told the Daily Nation.

Despite consulting lawyers, Koops prefers an amicable solution over legal action. “If the club covers the cost of the pacemaker, I’d be content. From my first contract, I request KES 1.892 million in four instalments of KES 473,000 to access the life-saving treatment,” he said.
